- Send a thank you email within 24 hours of the interview. Make sure that you proof read it carefully and that you have the person’s name correct. Thank the interviewer for their time and personalise by referring to what was discussed in the interview. Reiterate your interest and how you can be contacted.
- Don’t “talk” about the interview on Facebook! Whilst it may be tempting to comment on the company or interviewer, remember what you say is in the public domain and could embarrass you further down the line. Whilst on Facebook check there is nothing on your profile you would rather wasn’t seen by a potential employer.
- Have a number of referees lined up and brief them to expect contact from the interviewer. Give your referees information about the job you have applied for and which skills or qualifications are required so that they can make their testimonial of you as relevant as possible. Never give a referee without checking in with them first, not only is it rude but you won’t be doing your chances any good either.
Follow these 3 tips after each interview and you will demonstrate your professionalism.
